Music PD That Nourishes Your Staff Too

Hands-on workshops where teachers reconnect with music first, then take songs, sound, and movement back to the classroom. No formal training required.

Staff Development That Sounds Like Fun

Start With The Teacher. Then Bring It To The Room.

Teachers spend all day giving kids music. This session starts with their own relationship to it: the songs and moments that shaped them, and why that connection matters before it ever reaches a classroom.

Then it gets hands-on. Staff try instruments, drum together, and sing a few songs, so they feel the same joy and discovery the kids will feel tomorrow. No lecture. No music degree required.

You leave with concrete tools, a refreshed sense of why you started this work, and a reminder that you matter in this equation too.

The Through-Line

Same Principles. Different Rooms.

Michael leads PD on many topics. Every session still runs on these four ideas.

Start With Your Own Music

Before anyone talks lesson plans, we reconnect with music as something personal, not only a teaching tool.

Hands-On From The First Hour

Experiment with sound, drum in time, and sing. Staff feel the discovery they will bring back to kids.

No Formal Training Required

We close by showing how easy it is to weave music into any educational space, with what you already have.

Teachers Get Nourished Too

This is for educators who want to feel as cared for as the children they teach. You matter in this equation.

How It Flexes

Shaped Around The Ages In Your Rooms

The topic can change. The music stays practical for whoever is in front of you.

Youngest Rooms

The calming power of sound: humming, nature sounds, classical music, and instruments that are safe for the youngest learners. A toolkit for soothing, intentional sound.

Moving Rooms

Activation. Music that gets bodies moving and burns energy on long indoor days. Syncopation is well within a toddler's reach. We clap rhythms together and explore instruments with a child's curiosity.

Mixed-Age Rooms

Flexibility: calm for the littlest kids and active play for the older ones, in the same space. We also use musical items you already have, or can borrow, more often than you'd think.

How It Works

Easy For Directors. Useful For Teachers.

1
Tell us about your school, staff size, and the day you have
2
We shape a session around your rooms and what you want teachers walking out with
3
We come to you, run the workshop, and leave the team with tools they can use

Already running weekly enrichment or booking a school assembly? PD is a strong add-on for in-service days, not a replacement for those programs.

Professional Development FAQs

What is Rockness professional development for teachers?

Hands-on music workshops for early childhood staff. We start with the teacher's own relationship to music, then practice instruments, drumming, and singing so the team leaves with tools they can use the next morning.

Who is this for?

Directors, administrators, and classroom teachers. Sessions fit infant rooms, preschool rooms, mixed-age groups, and elementary staff. In-service days, faculty meetings, and after-school staff time all work.

Do you come to our school?

Yes. We come to your campus and shape the session around staff size, schedule, and the ages in your rooms.

Is this the same as weekly enrichment?

No. Enrichment is an ongoing class for children. This PD is for your staff. Many schools use both.

Do teachers need a music background?

No. A big part of the session is how easy it is to weave music into any educational space without formal training.
